Outer Banks: Season 3 Release Date

The Pogues are making a comeback! Outer Banks, Netflix’s hit teen drama, has been renewed for a third season. The renewal comes nearly four months after the show’s sophomore season premiered on July 30; a premiere date for Season 3 has yet to be determined but it’s def. in 2022.

Outer Banks, created by Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, follows a close-knit group of North Carolina teenagers as they hunt for treasure and navigate the tense rivalry between the wealthy Kooks and the working-class Pogues. Season 2 saw star-crossed lovers John B. (Chase Stokes) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) on the run in the Bahamas, with both friends and foes still looking for $400 million in gold.

Outer Banks Season 1 debuted in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, quickly becoming an escapist hit for the screener. Season 2 became Netflix’s No. 1 most-watched English language series worldwide for four weeks following its July premiere, according to the streaming service.

Burke and the Pate brothers, who created the show, will return as showrunners and executive producers. Season 3 will see the return of series regulars Stokes, Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Austin North, Drew Starkey, and Charles Esten. Fans can also expect to see more of Cleo, as actress Carlacia Grant has been promoted to series regular and will return.

Outer Banks Seasons 1 and 2 are now available on Netflix.

What to Expect in Season 3

The Season 2 finale left us with a number of unresolved cliffhangers. Ward (Charles Esten), for example, pretended to die and is now attempting to save his family (and more importantly, his golden treasure). Big John (Charles Halford) is also not dead. Season 2 could revolve around Sarah and John B confronting their fathers. And the teens still have to find a way off of this isolated island.
