In the national championship game, the Bulldogs would advance but fall to Alabama 26–23. With 11-1 regular season records and SEC championships, the 2018 and 2019 seasons were both successful. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 season was cut short, and the team finished the regular season at 7-2 to finish second in the SEC East.
The Georgia Bulldogs would defeat Alabama to win the National Championship in 2021, the school’s first championship since 1980. The Bulldogs, who had a 12-0 regular season record, fell to Alabama 41-24 in the SEC Championship game. Georgia, which is currently ranked third in the nation, faced Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Orange Bowl.
