Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 season was cut short, and the team finished the regular season at 7-2 to finish second in the SEC East.
The Georgia Bulldogs would defeat Alabama to win the National Championship in 2021, the school’s first championship since 1980. The Bulldogs, who had a 12-0 regular season record, fell to Alabama 41-24 in the SEC Championship game.
