She is best known for appearing as an original cast member on the reality television series The Real Housewives of Atlanta and for her recurring role Roz Washington on the Fox comedy-drama series Glee. She was born in Queens, New York, and reared in Athens, Georgia.
Leakes also had a series regular role as Rocky Rhoades on the NBC sitcom The New Normal until it was cancelled in 2013. She appeared on The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC and Dancing with the Stars on ABC. Linnethia Monique Johnson was born in the New York City borough of Queens. She and one of her brothers were sent to live with an aunt in Athens, Georgia, while her mother raised the other three children.
Her mother was thought to be incapable of caring for all five. She decided to continue her formal education at Morris Brown College in Atlanta for two years after graduating from Clarke Central High School in Athens.
