Good Morning Britain (GMB)
Good Morning Britain (abbreviated GMB) is a British breakfast television show that airs on ITV. It premiered on April 28, 2014, and is broadcast live every weekday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. across the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
The show includes news, interviews, politics, sports, entertainment, competitions, and weather, as well as local news bulletins delivered by ITV regionals. The show airs on ITV Cymru in Wales, STV in Scotland, and UTV in Northern Ireland, with catch-up on the ITV Hub and STV Player.
The magazine-style show features headline updates at the start of the show and at the top of each hour thereafter, followed by three short three-minute regional bulletins at quarter past the hour with news, travel/transit advisories, and weather.
From 6 January 2020, the first half-hour features Hawkins, Garraway, or Singh reading the day’s headlines, who are joined at 6:30 a.m. by two of the main anchors, and while this format was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be reinstated on 31 August 2020.
The show features celebrity and political interviews, as well as discussion of current events, and has a reputation for often heated debates.
Viewers are encouraged to interact with the show via digital platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, and there are regular competitions that the audience can participate in, which are usually hosted by Andi Peters.
Laura Tobin or Alex Beresford present weather bulletins, while Richard Arnold and Dr Hilary Jones present entertainment and health bulletins, respectively.
Between 1983 and 1992, a program of the same name aired on TV-am every weekday morning between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., as well as a Saturday morning edition.
Erron Gordon directed the show from its inception in 2014 to its conclusion in 2021. Following Erron’s departure in 2021, Stuart Earl took over as director.
