Las Vegas Aces
The Las Vegas Aces are a professional basketball team that competes in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
They are based in the Las Vegas metropolitan area and are a member club of the league’s Western Conference. The team plays their home games at Michelob Ultra Arena, which is located in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
The Aces are known for their remarkable success, having won both the 2022 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup and the WNBA Championship.
The team was originally founded as the Utah Starzz in Salt Lake City, Utah, before the league’s inaugural 1997 season. In 2003, the team moved to San Antonio, Texas, and became known as the San Antonio Silver Stars.
The team was later renamed the San Antonio Stars in 2014, and it finally relocated to Las Vegas before the start of the 2018 season. Today, the Aces are owned by Mark Davis, who is the current owner of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, and Tom Brady.
The Las Vegas Aces are one of only three WNBA franchises that compete in a market that does not have a current NBA team. The other two teams are the Connecticut Sun and the Seattle Storm.
Over the years, the franchise has had several high-quality players on its roster, including all-star point guard Becky Hammon, solid power-forward Sophia Young, former first-overall draft pick Ann Wauters, seven-foot-two-inch center Margo Dydek, two-time Sixth Woman of the Year Dearica Hamby, and two-time league M’VP A’ja Wilson.

Natalie Nakase Bio
Natalie Mitsue Nakase is an American basketball coach and former player born on April 18, 1980. She grew up in Huntington Beach, California, where she attended Marina High School, leading the team to two Sunset League titles and won the 1998 Orange County Player of the Year award.
Nakase attended UCLA where she was a walk-on and later became a three-year starter at point guard. She was also the first Asian American player in the National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL) playing for the San Jose Spiders in 2005 and the San Diego Siege in 2006.
In 2007, Nakase went to Germany to play with Herner but suffered another knee injury, leading her to retire as a player.
