He spent 13 seasons as a player in the NHL, primarily with the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers. From 2011 until his trade to the Lightning in 2014, Callahan captained the Rangers. He has also participated in international and Olympic play as a representative of the United States.

Callahan started his broadcasting career in 2019 as a studio analyst for the NHL Network. Additionally, he has given NBC studio analysis of the NHL.

Callahan, an NHL player for 13 seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers, is originally from Rochester, New York. Callahan was drafted by the Rangers in 2004. In 757 regular season games, he scored 186 goals and provided 200 assists. In 121 Stanley Cup Playoff games, he scored 20 goals and provided 19 assists.

Callahan was a vital member of the Rangers team in 2011–2012.
