Rene Ingoglia calls college football games on ESPN’s networks every week of the season. Since joining ESPN during the 2010 season, he has gradually expanded his role in the network’s coverage of college football, adding studio analysis to his weekly game duties to include the FCS Playoff Selection Show and FCS National Championship pregame show.
Before coming to ESPN, Ingoglia worked as a color analyst for the UMass Sports Network, where his commentary team won the 2010 Associated Press Award for Best Football Broadcast in the New England.
At the University of Massachusetts, he excelled as a running back and was selected as a first-team All-American in 1995. In addition, he was selected for the Yankee Conference 50th Anniversary Team and received All-Conference honors in 1993, 1994, and 1995. His 55 touchdowns in career are eighth most in FCS history and second most in UMass history. In 2007, he was admitted to the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame.
Ingoglia played in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins following his outstanding time in college. He also participated in NFL Europe, winning the 1999 World Bowl with the Frankfurt Galaxy after he scored the game-winning touchdown in the third quarter.
Apart from his employment at ESPN, Ingoglia worked for the Orlando Police Department for over 20 years. He retired as a senior robbery detective in October 2020. Ingoglia rejoined the Orlando Police Department in August 2022 and took a job as an investigator in the cold-case unit, which looks into unsolved homicides.
