Craig Melvin, TODAY’s host, has filled in for Al Roker on an episode of his food-themed show.
Melvin hosted an episode of “Family Style with Al Roker” in which he discussed the history of pies.
He made a guest appearance in the episode, which originally aired on November 16, while Roker was still recovering from blood clots.
Melvin announced on Instagram that the episode will air on NBC at 10:30 a.m. today, December 20.
He shared a promotional image of himself holding a pie and a cook decorating the appetizing-looking treat.
In the second season of the popular food show “Family Style,” Roker explored the history of Chinatown, ice cream, hot dogs, and apples.
It’s unclear whether Melvin will return to “Family Style with Al Roker” in the future.
After being hospitalized twice in November, Today’s popular meteorologist Al Roker is back at home.
He was seen beaming as he decorated the family Christmas tree over the weekend.
In one touching moment, Roker was grinning and holding up a bauble bearing his name.
He wrote in a heartfelt post, “So thankful to be well enough to decorate the Roker Family Christmas tree.”
Dozens of fans commented, and many were overjoyed to see Roker looking so happy and healthy.
“This made my night!” said one. Seeing you all together makes me happy. With Al’s health journey back, one day at a time! The race is won by going slowly and steadily.”
“Very happy for you and your family, your health is your wealth,” said another.
Roker was surprised at his New York City home earlier this month by his Today show coworkers.
He became emotional and had to wipe away tears as he opened his front door with a cane in his hand.
Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager, and Dylan Dreyer all greeted Roker with tears.
To lift his spirits, his coworkers donned Santa hats and serenaded him with Christmas carols.
Roker fought back tears as he tried to thank everyone who had come.
Eventually, the veteran meteorologist regained his composure and joked that they should all audition for America’s Got Talent.
They sang Jingle Bells and a special version of I’ll Be Home For Christmas in which the word “I’ll” was replaced with “Al” in honor of the host.
Following the heartwarming moment, fans were moved to tears today.
Roker made a cameo appearance on Today last week, where he discussed his recent health struggles.
“I’m not going to lie, it’s been a tough slog,” he admitted. It’s been the most difficult one yet, and I’ve had my fair share of surgeries. I’m grateful for a lot of things and people.”
Roker also discussed his ongoing recovery.
“You lose a certain amount of muscle mass for every week you’re in the hospital, and I was in there for four weeks,” he explained.
“There is, therefore, some vulnerability. Every day, I go to physical and occupational therapy. “I need to regain my strength.”
Meanwhile, Deborah Roberts described her husband’s recovery as a ” slog”.
“We’ve got a little ways to go,” she warned in a somber update. It’s a struggle.
“Al is regaining his strength and, God willing, his health, and everything is just blossoming.”
This year’s Today show schedule has been revealed by Hoda Kotb.
A lace border and garland framed a center photo of the staff on the red-backed card.
Kotb smiled and waved as she and Guthrie held a “Happy Holidays” sign.
Melvin and Carson Daly stood by their sides, wide-eyed for the photo.
“This card is going to the one, the only, the one who is not in these pictures but should be in the center,” Kotb told viewers.
“We’ve got our card, we’re going to stick it in there, and we’re going to mail it to Al, because he’s the one who keeps us together.”
