She is also among the winningest coaches in college basketball history. She contributes each week to a variety of shows on ACCN, including the popular basketball program Nothing But Net. In November 2020, seven months after ending a nearly forty-year career as a coach, McGraw became a part of the ACC Network.

McGraw led Notre Dame for 33 of his 38 seasons as a coach (1987–2020). With a winning percentage of 76 percent and 936 career wins, she won two NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championships (in 2001 and 2018). During her illustrious career, McGraw’s teams advanced to the Final Four nine times, and she was unanimously named National Coach of the Year three times.

McGraw’s Irish teams won 11 conference tournament titles (six of which came in her last eight years at Notre Dame), eight straight regular-season conference titles from 2012 to 2019, and seven trips to the NCAA Division I Women’s National Championship game. McGraw also won seven conference Coach of the Year awards in five different leagues. All told, McGraw coached twenty future WNBA players and 22 All-Americans, including Jackie Young and Jewell Loyd, the first overall picks.

From 1982 to 1987, McGraw served as the head coach of Lehigh University, where one of her standout players was Cathy Engelbert, the current commissioner of the WNBA. McGraw not only coached basketball but also softball for Lehigh from 1982 to 1985.

Still residing in Indiana, McGraw is involved in food drives and other community service initiatives in the South Bend region. She also teaches Sports Leadership: How Leaders Make Teams Flourish at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.
