He has called play-by-play for multiple post-season bowl games, CWS regional and super regional games, NIT tournaments and FCS National Championships.
He has been a commentator for SEC Network and the well-known face of the Southeastern Conference on ESPN since joining the network. Heisman Award winner Andre Ware and he called the play-by-play for the conference’s syndicated Saturday game before SEC Network debuted. He currently calls play-by-play football, basketball, and baseball SEC Championship games on radio and television.
Neal covered the SEC for Fox Sports Net (FSN) and Raycom Sports from 1995 to 2009. Neal not only called plays but also served as the host of SEC-TV, a weekly show that focused on SEC athletics. Among his hosting responsibilities were the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament coverage for Raycom Sports. He covered the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks for the network’s pregame shows before taking on that position. This led to his position as the host of FSN’s live pregame show for Braves telecasts, The Braves Report, from 1994 to 2002. During the 1995 Braves World Series run, he hosted the network’s pregame show.
For the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, and Charlotte Hornets telecasts on FSN, he called play-by-play. He has reported on a wide range of specials and programming, including the NFL Super Bowl Channel, Inside the SEC Championships, and the XII Pan American Games from Mar Del Plata, Argentina. In 1989, he started working as a sports anchor for Tallahassee, Florida’s WTXL-TV.
