Healey began his broadcasting career at the age of thirteen, calling games from his local professional team, Swindon Town FC, on an amateur hospital radio station, before joining ESPN. In 1988, Healy’s first job as a professional soccer broadcaster was doing radio work in Birmingham, UK for Caters News Agency. He worked as the New England Revolution’s play-by-play voice on local television and radio from 1998 to 2003. In the middle of the 1990s, he was also an on-air personality for alternative rock radio at Boston radio stations WFNX and WBCN.
He began working for ESPN in 2003, providing play-by-play commentary on soccer for ESPN International’s coverage of various European leagues, such as the UEFA Champions League, Italian Serie A, and Spain’s La Liga. In addition, he hosts ESPN FC, a well-liked soccer opinion and debate program that airs globally on ESPN International’s English-language platforms.
