Greg Brockman is an American entrepreneur, investor, and software developer, best known as a co-founder and the current president of OpenAI. His career began at Stripe in 2010 after leaving MIT, where he eventually became the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in 2013. In 2015, he left Stripe to co-found OpenAI, where he assumed the roles of co-founder and CTO.
Having dropped out of MIT in 2010, Brockman joined Stripe, Inc., a company founded by his MIT classmate Patrick Collison and Patrick’s brother John Collison. Within three years, he became Stripe’s inaugural CTO, significantly contributing to the company’s growth from 5 to 205 employees. Departing Stripe in May 2015, Brockman, along with Sam Altman and Ilya Sutskever, co-founded OpenAI in December 2015.
