Before Battah progressed to stardom, she served as a barista at the Caribo Coffee Shop when she was just 16 years old. She helped Hanna to adjust to the morning-show schedule. The fact that Battah had to wake up early actually helped her in her journalism career.

Although she served as a barista, she so much hated coffee that she would never drink it. In 2011 while in college, Battah got her first job as a reporter, she served for the campus television station MUTV as a sports reporter.

She worked as an apprentice in the WCCO TV news department in 2013. In the years 2013 and 2014, Hanna served as an editor and a political reporter for Missouri Digital News.
