Alexan Balekian Biography
Alexan Balekian, a proud Fresno native, returned home and to the TV station where he first interned in July of 2018.
Alexan began his nearly 20-year broadcasting career in 2001 as a sports anchor in Victoria, Texas. When the Texans selected former Bulldog great David Carr with the first overall pick, one of his first assignments was to interview him.
He moved to the Alamo City a year later to cover the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys.
When KSEE24 called in 2004, Alexan decided to return home. Alexan joined the sports team and was instrumental in the launch of the Bulldog Insider and Sports Central.
Alexan entered the world of sports talk radio in 2009. On KMJ, he launched the first FM sports show, “No Static Sports.” In 2013, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to become the Game Day host for the Arizona Cardinals on ESPN radio. He also began his journalism career by writing about politics for NBC News radio.
Alexan moved from sports to news and politics after 17 years, becoming the morning anchor for the FOX affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia. On Capitol Hill, he covered politics.
However, when KSEE24 called again in the summer of 2018, Alexan did not hesitate to return home. He is honored to join Stefani Booroojian as the country’s only Armenian anchor team.
Alexan is also the host of the weekly political program Sunday Morning Matters.
When he is not working or volunteering for community events, Alexan enjoys traveling with his son and exploring Fresno and the Valley, particularly the golf courses and wineries.
