Anderson, who previously worked as a weekend sports anchor for KPHO-TV in Phoenix, Arizona, from 1996 to 1999, joined ESPN in June 1999 as an ESPNEWS anchor. Prior to joining KPHO, Anderson worked as a sports photographer and reporter at Tulsa’s KTUL-TV from 1988 to 1990, as well as a sports reporter and weekend sports anchor at KOTV in Tulsa, Oklahoma (1990 to 1996). At KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri, Anderson started his career in broadcasting.

The Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists honored Anderson, a Green Bay, Wisconsin native, with the Outstanding Sports Feature Reporting Award in 1994 and 1995.
