She had three siblings, Ann (also from Leroy’s first marriage to Audrey Neal), Catherine and Elizabeth, as well as three brothers, Claude (from Leroy’s first marriage to Audrey Neal), Mark, and John. The Murad family had moved to Cleveland when she was a baby.

In Los Angeles, Murad met James Coburn, an actor who would become her husband. On either October 22 or November 22, 1993, they got married. She became the stepmother of Lisa and James IV, Coburn’s two children from his first marriage, after their marriage. The James and Paula Coburn Foundation was established by Murad and her husband.
