Oxon Hill Grocery Store shooting leaves two dead in gun rampage ‘after security guard confronted suspected shoplifter’
A man and a woman were killed in a shooting at an Oxon Hill, Maryland, grocery store on Friday, according to police.
Police in Prince George’s County responded to a shooting in the 20 block of Audrey Lane, near the Eastover Shopping Center, around 10:25 a.m.
According to police, a man and a woman were found with gunshot wounds. According to police, the woman was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, while the man died at the scene.
The shooting may have been the result of an altercation between a security guard and an alleged shoplifter.
Multiple gunshots were heard inside the store, according to a witness.
During the investigation, officers swarmed the grocery store. A large section of the parking lot was cordoned off by police tape.
According to police, the shooting was an isolated incident with no threat to the community.
The identities of the man and woman were not immediately known.
