Mike McCabe is an American meteorologist currently working as a weather forecaster for KEPR. After his mother took him on a tour of a local TV station in Yakima, Mike developed a fascination with the weather and decided he wanted to become a weatherman. He went to the Skill Center in high school and started working in production at KIMA, where he discovered all the behind-the-scenes information.
Mike relocated to Lewiston, Idaho, to work in radio after leaving KIMA to further his education. He finally achieved his lifelong dream when he was hired by KLEW in 1996 as a part-time weather anchor.
He relocated back to Yakima in 1998 and began working the morning and noon shows at KIMA. After 9/11, his job shifted to weekends and three days per week of reporting.
He moved to KEPR when the morning show returned in 2005. Mike took over as the primary weather presenter for the 5, 6, and 11 o’clock newscasts in 2008.
