Originally trained as a social worker, Chevigny ventured into the world of film in Chicago before co-founding Big Mouth Productions in New York City in 1997 alongside her college friend Julia Pimsleur. Pimsleur eventually departed in 2002, and Dallas Brennan became Chevigny’s partner, with Marilyn Ness joining the company later on.
One of her notable works includes the co-direction of “Deadline” (2004), which delved into the decision of Illinois Governor George Ryan to commute the death sentences of all those on death row in the state.
