Howard D. Bidwell was an American celebrity father famously known for being the father of Julie Banderas, an American television news anchor for the Fox News Channel, based in New York City.

On Tuesday, Howard D. Bidwell died peacefully at home (November 16, 2010). He was born on January 1, 1930, in East Hartford, Connecticut, to Howard E Bidwell and Corinne Clapp Bidwell.
After graduating from East Hartford High School, he attended Bucknell University and earned a B.S. in civil engineering. Following graduation, he was commissioned in the United States Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps.
Howard founded Consolidated Precast, Inc. in 1966 to manufacture architectural precast concrete. It was originally located in Farmington before being relocated to Thomaston in 1986. He was the President of the Architectural Precast Association and was well-known in his field.
He was a long-time Farmington resident who served on the Republican Town Committee and the Zoning Board of Appeals. He was also a founding member of the Farmington Rotary Club, a past president, and a three-time Paul Harris Fellow.
He was also a longtime member of Farmington’s First Church of Christ, Congregational. Howard was exposed to his father’s love of sailing from birth and carried it into adulthood, becoming a member of the Off-Soundings Club and the Baldwin Yacht Club.
Howard enjoyed cruising and racing, both of which he was very successful at. In his class, he won the “Daytona Beach to Bermuda Race” three times.
Howard leaves behind his son Howard (Bud) Bidwell and his wife Ellen of Harwinton, his daughter Marybeth (Becky) Bender and her husband Kurt of Lebanon, his daughter Susan Williams and her husband David of Lebanon, his daughter Tracy Bidwell of Columbia, S.C., his daughter Julie Bidwell-Sansone and her husband Andrew of NYC, and his daughter Melissa Bidwell of Brooklyn, NY. Joanna and Scott Bender, John and Katie Bidwell, Rachel and Rebekah Williams, and Addison Sansone are among his seven grandchildren. Prior to that, he was married to Virginia Pocock of Lebanon and Fabiola Bidwell of Farmington.

She later tweeted that she “misspoke” on the air and that what she meant to say was that the Fern Hollow Bridge collapsed on the day of the broadcast, despite the fact that President Biden had “tout[ed] the bipartisan bill back in June.”
