After leaving ESPN in 2001, Carolyn Peck came back in 2007 to work as a basketball analyst covering collegiate and professional levels of competition, such as the NBA, WNBA, and men’s and women’s college basketball. Peck returned to coaching for the 2017–18 campaign at Vanderbilt as an associate head coach. She then left to work as an analyst for ESPN and SEC Network’s coverage of women’s college basketball.
She played basketball at Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, Tennessee. After high school, she enrolled at Vanderbilt University, where she graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in communications. Throughout her time there, she also kept up her basketball career, averaging 10.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. With 180 shot blocks, she also established a career high for women’s basketball at Vanderbilt.
She was offered opportunities to work as a marketing consultant for a Nashville television station, sell pharmaceutical products for a Fortune 500 company for two years, and play professionally in Spain shortly after graduating from college. In 1991, she went back to playing basketball, but she also left her jobs in Italy and Japan. She also contributed to her team’s Japanese league championship win.
