He was previously a professional baseball catcher and manager. He spent 17 seasons as a Major League Baseball (MLB) player for the Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, and Kansas City Royals.
He has been a broadcaster since the conclusion of his playing career, doing national work for TBS and MLB Network in addition to working on radio and television shows for the Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles.
