Barry James Melrose (born July 15, 1956) is a Canadian–American retired broadcaster and former professional ice hockey player and head coach. He contributed to the NHL Network and was a longtime hockey analyst and commentator for ESPN until 2023. He participated in both the National Hockey League (NHL) and the World Hockey Association (WHA). He became a head coach after ending his playing career, and he is most remembered for leading the Los Angeles Kings to the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals.

After ending his playing career, Melrose went on to become a head coach and is best known for leading the Los Angeles Kings during their championship run.
He was the head coach of the Los Angeles Kings from 1992 to April 1995 before coming on board with the network in 1996. For the first time in franchise history, his team made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in his first season. In 1987, Melrose took the Medicine Hat Tigers to the WHL Memorial Cup Championship, marking the start of his coaching career. In addition, he served as the American Hockey League’s Adirondack Red Wings’ coach for three seasons (1989–92) and the Seattle Thunderbirds for the 1988–89 season. In 1991, Melrose led the Red Wings to the Calder Cup victory. During his final two seasons, he also held the position of General Manager for the team.
He participated in 335 NHL games as a defenseman with Winnipeg, Toronto and Detroit in his 11-year playing career (1979–86). He also participated in three WHA seasons (1976–1979) with Cincinnati. He portrayed himself in the 1999 film Mystery, Alaska, which told the tale of a hockey team from a small town playing a major game against the New York Rangers. He appeared as a guest on an ABC comedy Spin City episode in 2001, where he also played himself. Melrose and ESPN pundit Steve Levy acquired a portion of the Adirondack Frostbite, a United Hockey League team, in January 2004.
