Adrian Branch Education
Adrian attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he finished his high school education. Later, from 1981 to 1985, he studied at the University of Maryland. He led the Terrapins to the ACC Championship in 1984. He left the game as Maryland’s second-leading scorer all-time. At the 2004 ACC Tournament, he was referred to as a “ACC Legend”.

The year 2007 saw Adrian Branch join ESPN as a college basketball analyst. He played guard and forward for the University of Maryland before being selected by the Chicago Bulls in the second round of the NBA Draft.
Branch played for the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won the 1987 NBA title, the New Jersey Nets, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Minnesota Timberwolves during his four seasons in the NBA.
After his NBA career, Branch played for teams in Australia, Spain, France, Israel, and Turkey during a period of time in Europe. Since then, he has spent a lot of time giving talks to students, youth organizations, and collegiate and professional sports teams.
He has been ranked among the top 10 most in-demand speakers for youth groups and school assemblies.
He was appointed television color analyst for the Charlotte Bobcats’ 60 games on Carolinas Sports Entertainment Television in 2004. Prior to that, he worked for Comcast Sportsnet in his hometown of Washington, D.C. as a studio analyst and college basketball analyst. He also provided commentary for the Washington Wizards on Wizards Post Game Live.
His work as an analyst for WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., during Maryland’s championship season in 2001–2002 was one of the highlights of his broadcasting career.
During his time at Maryland, which included a run to the ACC championship in 1984, Branch, who was named an ACC Legend in 2004, ranked third all-time in scoring. Through four seasons with the Terps, he scored 16.4 points on average and shot 74.8 percent from the line. He achieved career highs of 671 points and 45 steals in 37 games during his senior year in 1984–1985. He also led the Terps to the Sweet 16 in 1984 and 1985 and was named to the All-America team twice with honorable mention.
Branch and Michael Jordan both played basketball in high school, and the two of them participated in the McDonald’s All-American game, for which Branch won MVP honors.
