When Wheel of Fortune hostess Susan Stafford left the show in October 1982, White was one of three replacement hosts (along with Vicki McCarty and Summer Bartholomew) to co-host the show. White took over as the regular hostess on December 13, 1982.
On November 8, 2019, Sony Pictures Television announced that White would temporarily take over as MC for Wheel of Fortune beginning with the week of episodes set to air beginning December 9, 2019.
The announcement came after a taping day was postponed due to Sajak being hospitalized with a blocked intestine that required emergency surgery to clear. White hosted that taping day as well as the rescheduled taping day the following day.
During her shows’ hosting, guest letter activators were used; during the Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway, the weeks of December 9 and 16 featured Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
Following that, the show went on hiatus for Christmas week (December 23, 2019), followed by a week of previously taped “America’s Game” episodes hosted by Sajak (Wheel tapes six episodes per day, with each studio audience receiving three shows; the third show in the afternoon session is a “America’s Game” episode), before White returned to hosting on January 6, 2020, for a final week; she was assisted by a “special guest,” Pat Sajak’s daughter Maggie.

Vanna White Parents
Vanna Marie Rosich was born on February 18, 1957, in Horry County, South Carolina, near North Myrtle Beach, the daughter of Joan Marie (Nicholas) and Miguel Angel Rosich (father).
Her parents divorced when she was a baby, and she was raised in North Myrtle Beach by her mother, Joan, and stepfather, Herbert White Jr. (1925-2022).
White adopted her stepfather’s surname, a former real estate broker. (On April 1, 2022, White announced that he had died peacefully that morning, prompting an outpouring of support.)
White moved to Atlanta, Georgia, after graduating from high school, to attend The Atlanta School of Fashion and Design[8] and work as a model.

Before appearing on television in 1980, White competed in the Miss Georgia USA 1978 pageant.
White made her first appearance on a game show on June 20, 1980, on The Price Is Right, where she was one of the first four contestants.
She did not appear on stage, but the clip of her running to Contestants’ Row was rebroadcast as part of The Price Is Right 25th Anniversary Special in August 1996, The Price Is Right Celebrates 50 Years in September 2021 (in which she also appeared as a Guest Model during the show), and Game Show Moments Gone Bananas, a special broadcast.
White appeared in an unfinished film in 1980; the film was later edited and released in June 1990 as Gypsy Angels. In 1981, she had a small part in the film Looker and also played Doris in Graduation Day, an American slasher film directed by Herb Freed and produced by Troma Entertainment.
