Norman Eugene Walker was born on May 30, 1927, in Hartford, Illinois, to Gladys Huldah (née Schwanda) and Paul Arnold Walker. His mother was from the Czech Republic.
Walker dropped out of school to work in a factory and on a riverboat before joining the US Merchant Marine at the age of 17 in the final months of WWII.
He did odd jobs in Brownwood, Texas, Long Beach, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked as a doorman at the Sands Hotel after quitting the Merchant Marine. Walker worked as a sheet metal worker as well as a nightclub bouncer.
Walker became a client of Henry Willson, who dubbed him “Jett Norman” and placed him as a Tarzan-like figure in a Bowery Boys film (Jungle Gents). Cecil B. DeMille hired him in Los Angeles to appear in The Ten Commandments.
He was discovered by Warner Bros., who was producing a Western-style television series, thanks to a buddy in the film industry who helped him secure a few little parts.

Walker married Giselle Hennessy in 1974, and she died in 1994. In 1997, Walker married Susan Cavallari. He eventually settled down in Grass Valley, California.

Clint Walker Cause of Death
Walker almost died in a skiing accident at Mammoth Mountain, California, in May 1971. Walker was pierced through the heart by a ski pole after falling from a ski lift.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A doctor, however, noticed some weak signs of life and moved Walker to the ICU, where his injured heart was restored. Walker was back to work in less than two months. He has stated that he experienced a near-death experience as a result of the accident.
Walker died of congestive heart failure on May 21, 2018, nine days before his 91st birthday, in Grass Valley, California.
