Zelenskyy grew up as a native Russian speaker in Kryvyi Rih, a major city in central Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Prior to beginning his acting career, he earned a law degree from Kyiv National Economic University.
He then turned to comedy, establishing the production company Kvartal 95, which produces films, cartoons, and TV shows such as Servant of the People, in which Zelenskyy played Ukraine’s president.
The show aired from 2015 to 2019 and was a huge success. Employees of Kvartal 95 formed a political party with the same name as the television show in March 2018.
